What Rook and Honey thought was their home, was now starting to show that it was clearly just a mere illusion. As they got closer, it started to look less realistic. It was a like a painting ,though, whoever had painted it had got it all wrong. Their home looked like bits of watercolour smudged and it was all dim. From a distance when they were running, this didn’t seem so strange, maybe a bit weird but you would think your eyes were playing tricks on you. Everything goes a bit blurry sometimes when you’re running and you’re quite far away from your destination, so it looks like a blob in the distance. Honey was puzzled. This definitely wasn’t their village. How could it change so much in 3 hours? It was impossible and why change the merry environment to dull? Unreal!!! Rook, on the other hand, was amused. It looked weird and comical to him. He had lived in the village for 16 years and had never known it to look so dreadful. But before they could say anything, a great big dome enclosed around them, trapping Rook and Honey inside…

“HA!HA!HA!”

They heard a croaky but familiar voice and turned to face their biggest fear once again. The witch and her sidekick cat…

“You thought you’d escape so easily? You wretched couple! There’ll be no happily ever after for you, well, not where you’re going anyways.”

“Yes there will,” replied Honey, fiercely, “Rook and I are stronger than you think. We’ve outsmarted you before and we can do it again if we have to!”

“In your dreams, Goldilocks,” snarled the witch, taking in Honey’s golden blonde hair. “Though you’re right, I can’t use just your friend for my experiment. It would be such a shame to waste such beauty. I’ll use your beauty and your boyfriend’s strength, so that way, you can’t get backup from your village to stop me.”

The witch’s cat meowed softly and then rubbed itself against the witch as if to agree with the plan. It then took one look at Honey and Rook and winked at them. They looked disbelievingly at each other. Had that cat just winked at them? Well, it was a magic cat and could be capable of such things that animals normally wouldn’t be able to do. Though, Honey and Rook had thought the cat was against them with the witch. Perhaps it didn’t know that winking was a friendly thing to do. They decided to dismiss this, as it was the least of their problems right now. The witch began to search her robe pockets frantically and Rook and Honey wondered what was wrong.

“Oh no, I left my wand back at the castle!!! I thought I’d brought it with me. Maybe not. Keep an eye on the prisoners will ya, Midnight? Or on second thoughts, keep two eyes on them. They’re a tough pair. There’s a good boy,” the witch addressed her cat. The cat meowed again to confirm that she was going to watch over the pair. And with that the witch took off on her broomstick.

Midnight smiled at Rook and Honey and then brought out the witch’s wand from behind him with his tail. They gasped. So when Midnight had rubbed himself against the witch, he must’ve taken the wand in secret. And now that the witch had gone, he could rescue them. He was one sly cat.

Midnight pointed the wand towards the dome and then tapped it three times. And by magic the dome vanished into thin air. Honey rushed over to him and gave him a big hug. Midnight purred as Rook too came over and began to stroke him. He was digging the attention.

“Rook, why don’t we take Midnight home? He would be happier with us than that wicked witch. Look at that smile!” exclaimed Honey who had started to like the cat.

Rook agreed and they rushed back to their village before the witch could return. They were welcomed back with open arms and a celebration because they had returned. Everyone loved Midnight and he was as happy as could be.

The End
